Daniel Willard Fiske (1831-1904) was an American librarian and a.o.he collected and wrote chess books. This original book,428 p,is mainly historic and has around 25 pages about Paul Morphy and 10 pages about Augustus,Duke ofBrunswick -Lüneburg. Fiske started the very first American magazine Chess Monthly together with Morphy in 1857. Fiske donated his chess books to the library of Reykjavik. This book is signed by another famous author: H.J.R. Murray who wrote the A History of Chess in 1913.
